Coming to the USA / Camp Palmer 2016

This photo was taken at 3:45 am 3 weeks ago...and most of our bags are in this photo :)

We made it to the USA, bought our Chick-Fil-A, and were driving down the road in a mini van!!

Driving is pretty great

The view of downtown Memphis ain't too bad either.

The almost sunset over the Mississippi River.

This was our 4th year to attend our church camp called Camp Palmer.  It is a camp for the kids of our church, 1st-12th grade and the kids from Palmer Home for Children in Mississippi. We flew from Bogota to Atlanta, then drove to camp in North Alabama.
Every morning campers have a wake up call with singing and dancing.  Avery did the initial wake up call one morning.

Avery just dancing with a chicken at 7am in the morning.  Morning wake up call is one of my favorite times at camp.

Then we have devotion on the rocks

After breakfast, there is worship. In this photo, you can see Isabella and Brook.

Parker Tenent taught each morning.

This is the cabin I have stayed in the past 2 years.  So thankful for this time with church family.

Field Trip with Brook and End of School

Brook's last Thursday at school (while Isabella was taking exams), I was able to go as a chaperone with her class on a field trip to a place called Jaime Duque. This was my first/last opportunity to do this and I was excited about it.  It was a fun time in spite of the light rain all day.

Sweet friends ~ Brook & Mariale

These are some of Brook's closest friends here.

Abby and her family are moving to Vermont this summer and we will miss them here.  Her mom is in my bible study class and her family came to Isabella's party.

Yep, the Taj Mahal

Brook and Marilale were in the blue paddle boat in the back.

I held the bags :)

So happy to be on my first and last field trip with Brook!

This is me with Andrea, the other chaperone.  She doesn't speak much English, but I was able to practice Spanish most of the day, which even though it takes work, it was good for me.

We enjoyed bumper cars a lot.  Later in the morning, I rode 3 times with Andrea and a good group of girls.

And thankfully, Friday finally came.  The last day of school!!  Woo hoo!!
First day of school....

Last day of school!
Isabella didn't want her picture taken :(

Last van pick up day!

There was a surprise despedida party (farewell party) for Brook today.  Here she is with her teacher, Miss Johnson, and the teachers assistant, Mrs. H (as they call her).  They were both very sweet to Brook.

Anniversary Celebration

Avery and I went to a nice restaurant the weekend before our 18th wedding anniversary.  It was a beautiful location, good food, listened to live music played by a friend, and I had a handsome date.

There was a great view of the city from the restaurant.

This is where we ate!

All the tables had rose petals, and they had a good menu too.

My strawberry juice with the sunset in the background.

We stayed and listened to our friend Andres play the drums with his band.

Here is a sample of the music......
