Weekend Wrap-Up

Happy Monday folks!  I couldn't quite get anything posted the end of last week due to a lot going on around here.  Here are a few things from last week and our weekend:

Last week, the school's website posted this picture of Brook practicing spelling words in shaving cream.  She has such a great language arts teacher!

Avery & I try to have a weekly lunch date on Thursdays.  Last week, I tried a strawberry lemonade which was good.

This is a copy of how long my taxi was Friday morning to travel 7 miles....53 minues.  I can't make up this stuff.

Just a typical day.....a sink full of dishes.  A dishwasher will be my first purchase when I return to the states....or close to the top of the list.

Friday night, Brook went to her middle school youth group Christmas party.

Brook is in the plaid shirt.

Isabella also had youth group Friday night & Saturday night, she was invited to another quinceanara party.  It was 50's theme, so she paired her outfit with a leather jacket (not pictured here).

Brook worked on a nativity craft while Isabella was out for the night.

Avery hung up our family canvas photo last week on our wall.  I have always wanted a canvas photo and was pleased with this photo which was taken at Myrtle Beach this past summer.

Ornaments Highlights

As mentioned yesterday, today I am going to highlight some of our ornaments on our tree.  We still have ornaments in storage in Mississippi, but here are some we have with us here in Bogota.

This is one of my new ornaments I purchased in Peru this summer.

Last fall, a friend of mine from church gave me this.  It means so much as it reminds me of friendships from a church family I love.

This is my new New York City ornament!

This is my new Mickey Mouse ornament.

And Mickey and Minnie

My mom gave me this ornament.  She also made my siblings and I ornaments as kids that we all still have.

At the top of this picutre, I have a an ornament that says Brussels.  That city is special to us & is so much in the news these days.  The other 2 ornaments I received as gifts last year here in Bogota.

This was also another new ornament received last year in Bogota.

I purchased this over the weekend.  It was $1 and I thought it was cute.

More from our month when we lived in Europe....London

England and Paris

And of course a baby Prince George ornament!  Now we just need one of Princess Charlotte.

Isabella's first Christmas

Brook's first Christmas

Avery & I's first Christmas together ornament
1998

These dolphins are from our recent visit to Sea World.

This is another Colombian ornament I received last year.

And this is where we plan on being this year on Christmas....Mississippi with all my family.

December Christmas Decorations!

Oh December.  We are happy to see you this year!
Today, I will be sharing my Christmas decorations with you.

Come on in!

This is inside the apartment looking back at our door.

Our Christmas tree!

This is my new nativity scene I purchased for this year.  I like that is has a light (which runs on batteries) for it.

Here is what it looks like without the light on so you can see the details.

This is the stocking I made for Pop, my grandfather, when I was child.  I still put it on display every year.

Kitchen candles and candy jar

Kitchen towels

This is my new Christmas tray.

Christmas pillows added to the couch

These are new towels for our guest bathroom.  With the value of the dollar here, I was able to get these towels for $1 each and the kitchen tray was $1.50.  It's the little things :).

In our guest bath and other sinks, I will have my favorite Bath and Body soaps in different scents.

This is our dining room.

This is a case I received from other missionaries here who were moving.  It is a case that is used here in stores to sell candy and other items.

Here is a close up of some misc. decorations I put in this.

Tomorrow, I will highlight some of our Christmas tree decorations.

Hope you enjoyed the Christmas tour!

Weekend Wrap-Up

Avery is back in Bogota this morning, but it was a girls weekend around our apartment.

Friday, the girls did homework in the morning then we spent the afternoon and evening going to see a movie.  It took us 6 hours, including transportation and the movie.  We walked for an hour and 15 minutes after the movie just trying to get a taxi :(.  Good thing I live the opposite direction of the airport or I may have just kept walking that way.

We saw the final Mocking Jay movie, which was my first of the series to see!

Avery was able to spend time duck hunting with his family.  So happy he was able to go hunt!

Isabella shared with me these new photos of Princess Charlotte.  She is a cutie!

And she favors her big brother George!

This notice above was in the girls school newsletter. Under 6th grade, you will see Brook's name listed.  She was recognized for an excellence in writing award!

While going through Brook's school papers, I found this science paper on rock cycles.  The photo isn't very clear, but at the top, the teacher wrote a note asking if she could keep this :).

The rest of our weekend was homework and watching some Christmas shows.
Pray these girls can get caught up on all their school work this week with decent grades.
Happy Monday!
