Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday!

We ended our week of VBS tired, but it was a good week. Our mission project was to help a Spanish speaking church here build a playground.

Avery and the girls went to the movies and I stayed in Friday night.  I made breakfast Saturday morning, which has become about the only day I cook breakfast!  Avery and the girls then left to go camping for the night.

I spent the afternoon visiting with a friend and then a visit two see my greats.  I love seeing them!

I went to dinner with my sister (no pictures :( ), then spent the night at my parents.  I enjoyed watching my first Hallmark movie of 2017!

Sunday, I was able to celebrate Father's Day with my favorite.  I'm so thankful for my dad.  I went to eat with my parents for an early lunch.

By the time I got home, I had 2 drinks in my cup holders that represented the previous 24 hours!

I cooked dinner, including these Red Velvet Cake Cookies for dessert for Avery and the girls when they arrived back home from camping.

And to wrap up the weekend, I went on a walk and then was happy to see the colors and blooms in our yard (it's hard to see in this picture).

Relaxation, laundry, cooking and time with family was a great weekend!

Friday Favorites

It's been VBS week at our church this week.  That means early mornings and busy mornings for us, but it has been fun.
Isabella and I are helping the hispanic church during registration.  We have gotten in a little Spanish practice this week!
VBS week always means time with friends afterwards.  We've been out to eat every day this week for lunch, Isabella has had 2 events, Brook spent the night at 2 different friends houses, and we hung out with these friends one day.

We got this beautiful piece of furniture from a friend and it looks so pretty in our bedroom and is great storage.  I feel like it completes our room.

This is the balloon in Brook's room and we are thankful her teeth are finally feeling better after oral surgery last week.

Other favorites.....we had our Colombian Memphis friends over night this week, Avery and I went to dinner together one night, and we got in a quick visit with some friends as well.  And now it is Friday!!  Enjoy the weekend!

Painting Progress

Over the past 2 months, we have done a little painting in the house.  We started with Brook's room.  After doing one wall, we changed the color.
The small blue/gray strip you see is what the original color was, which was a little too blue.  I ended up using this color in the girls bathroom.
Below is a before picture of Brook's room.
Below is the after!
The paint color is "Drift of Mist" and is more a creamy white with a gray undertone.  It looks great.
We used the same color for Isabella's room, but hired someone to paint her room because of the condition of her walls and ceiling lines. These are before pictures.
After:
I painted our bathroom one of the most popular paint colors right now called Repose Gray.  Here are before and after pictures of the bathroom:
I painted our bedroom the same color.  Here are before and afters of our bedroom:
I still would like to paint the two smaller areas of both bathrooms, but will do that this summer. The other project is we had someone smooth scrape our kitchen ceiling.
It required mudding, sanding, and painting afterwards.
How it looks today:

There are our current painting house projects!  Happy hump day!

Weekend Wrap Up

It was a great weekend here with one my dearest friends.  I spent Friday at the grocery store and also cleaning.  Friday evening, my friend, Heidi and her daughter came from Charlotte, North Carolina. Within 15 minutes of their arrival, we had other guests come join us for dinner.  Saturday, we were gone for 11 hours!  We moved in her daughter to her dorm for her summer camp program and spent the day doing errands for her and a few things of our own :).  It was great just to have the whole day to hang out together.  She left early Sunday, but she comes back in 6 weeks.

Sunday, Avery worked at our house and the girls and I helped decorate the church for VBS.  We also went to pick up a piece of furniture a friend is giving us.  It has made it to our house, and now to hire help to get it inside the house!

It was a good weekend, but I was so tired last night and am ready for a good week ahead.  Happy Monday friends!

Friday Favorites

Monday night means Bachelorette night with friends and I get to hold this cutie for 2 hours :)

It had been a long time, but I went to a homeschool book sale Tuesday and was able to sell a few of my homeschool books and also get in a visit with friends.

Brook had some oral surgery and her sweet Jr. High leaders from church came to visit and brought a balloon and ice cream for her.  We are so blessed with these incredible ladies in Brook's life!

I am not a bird person, but we did see this pretty red bird in our yard one day this week.
After a walk one day this week (because the temperatures have been so nice and trying to enjoy it before the heat comes), I was once again reminded of how thankful I am for our home.  Definitely one of my favorite things.

It's that time of year again!!  The Semi-Annual Bath & Body Works sale!!  Woo hoo!  I was a little excited.
This is an ariel view of my current stash :)

Thanks to the recommendation of my friends, Donna & Melva, I bought these products to add some shine to the original finish of some of my furniture.
Here is the before and after of our table on the back porch.
I went a little crazy with all the wood in our house and did doors and doorways too.  In the picture above, you can see I had done the door on the right, but not the door on the left.  I really like these products.

And to continue with the favorites this week, we had a facetime call with one of our dear friends in Bogota.  It meant so much to us to hear him say how he speaks of us often and thanked us again for being a part of his life.  What a testimony to God's goodness to all of  us.  I've said it before, but I'll say it again, we are so glad to be back in the USA, but we really do miss our friends in Bogota.  Can't wait to go back and visit them all....maybe in 2018.

Happy Weekend!
