Funny Fotos ~ August Edition

Happy Tuesday!  It's time for another edition of Funny Fotos:

So, this photo isn't funny, but it is one I saw and I loved it.  So thankful for these truths!
I feel like we've all done this before!

I can relate to this!

So true!!

This is a saying I've been known to say, especially with one of my friends.  The funniest thing is I texted this to her and told her Happy Friday when it was only actually Thursday!

And to end on an inspirational quote...
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Friday Favorites ~ Back To School

Even as a homeschool family, we look forward to going back to school and the routine it brings. We didn't have signs this year for the girls to hold, but I did take pictures :)

Brook ~ 8th grade

Isabella ~ 11th grade

And oh my, this is the reminder photo of 2 years ago on their first day of school in Bogota, 6th and 9th grades.

We celebrated with going for pizza and ordered these garlic knots at a local pizza place we tried for the first time near our home.

As a homeschool mom, while the girls did school one morning, I did some painting on our kitchen cabinets.  I'll post more on that once the project is complete.

I also ran some errands and was able to hear my favorite on the radio.

Brook had a friend sleepover one night and I bought donuts for the girls that morning.

We were finally able to meet sweet Ruthie, who is 2 weeks old.  Just 4 weeks ago, we were preparing for her baby shower.

And to end our week, we had Bridgovich time (this is the name for the Bridges/Janovich families combined!). This is Pearce hanging out with us before we went to dinner.

Happy Weekend!

Girls Trip

As I mentioned last week, the girls spent a week recently in North Carolina with their grandparents and visiting cousins, aunts and uncles there.
They flew for the first time by themselves and did great!

I got lots of homeschool planning done!

I enjoyed the cooler August temperatures.

The girls enjoyed time on the lake there.

Avery & I grabbed a quick lunch date before they headed home.

Frequent flyers :)

We were so glad to have them back home!

Date Night

Happy Monday!

Last week, Avery and I had a date night downtown Memphis while the girls were out of town.

We ate at our favorite restaurant on Beale Street, Kings Palace Cafe.  They serve some of their food family style, and this is what we've done in the past and what we did on this visit too. It had been a while since we ate there, but the food was so good!
Above we had fried green tomatoes, grilled chicken, potatoes, shrimp and crawfish etoufee, gumbo, bread and grilled catfish.

Walking on Beale Street
Avery just happened to be wearing his Johnny Cash t-shirt when we saw this Johnny Cash guitar.

This is a view of a sprinkler park at the Mississippi River.
We found an area with rocking chairs where we sat with great views of the river and music in the background.

Watching the sunset over the river.

Random Catch Up

Good morning and happy Friday!  I haven't posted in a week, so today is a random catch up of some photos.  I've had a case of blog laziness, not much inspiration, and my girls have been out of town, and so here I am catching up on the past week!

~ I spent some time playing with some new apps after last week's post on favorite apps.
With this one, I was able to blur out people/things in the background.  This is one of my favorite pictures taken of Brook and Avery from camp this summer.

With this app, I was able to add graphics to this picture taken last year in NYC of Brook.

~The girls went on their first flight by themselves!
They are pretty experienced flyers and actually feel a little more comfortable with changing planes in Atlanta because of all of our time there.  However, they went on a nonstop flight, Memphis to Charlotte, to see their grandparents and cousins for the week.

Off they go!

~ Our garage

I am so thankful for our garage.  The end.

~ Cooking
I made this lemon cheesecake last week to serve when guests were over and it turned out so good.  It had been at least 4 years since I have made a cheesecake.

I cooked these veggies in the oven and served them with baked chicken and my new favorite garlic mashed potatoes recipe.

Then I prepared this Memphis classic sausage/cheese plate for dinner Sunday night.

~Cooler temperatures
Thankfully, we have had a bit cooler temperatures this past week.  This was one afternoon on our back porch.  For a late July day in Memphis, 80 is wonderful!

And one morning, this was the temperature :)

Between the weather and seeing these candles, it has me all ready for fall!

~ School planning

I spent 2 days this week organizing and planning for school.  It was nice to have this time to sort papers and prepare lesson plans.

Next week, I'll share some Memphis pictures from our night out downtown.

Have a good weekend!

Friday Favorites ~ February 20, 2026

Woo hoo!  Happy Friday friends! A favorite of mine from last week was spending a morning last weekend with my sister. We went to a bakery a...
