Friday Favorites ~ March 15, 2024

Happy happy Friday!  I hope it has been a good week for you.  It is Spring Break for schools in my area, so it was a good week for less traffic in the mornings and afternoons.

I went into the office just 2 days this week and there were just 2 of us there, so it was low key and more relaxed for sure.

Here are a few little favorites from the week.....

Frozen yogurt
Frozen yogurt is my favorite snack/dessert to get out and Menchie's is my favorite yogurt spot.

Sourdough Bread
I made sourdough bread this week and added cinammon to it, which tasted so good!

Car Wash
I got a car wash this week and it was nice to finally have a clean car!  It is suppose to rain today, but that's okay.

Dinner with friends
I went to dinner with friends Monday night and a friend last night.

My weekend looks to be pretty uneventful, but I am hoping something comes up or maybe at the least, some motivation to get a few things organized at home.

Enjoy your weekend!

Hodgepodge ~ March 13, 2024

I hope your week is going well.  We are working our way through March and the time does seem to go by fast overall, even when some days seem slow.   Today I am joining up with the Hodgepodge conversation.

1. Thursday is National Pi Day...are you good at math? What was the last thing you had to calculate? Did you use your head or technology? Last slice of pie you ate?

I was okay in math, but I use technology for most math these days.  I love a good piece of key lime, strawberry or lemon pie.  I would prefer that over a cake, but it has been a while since I have had a slice.

2. What makes a house a home?

Laughter, honesty and forgiveness

3. Your current favorite green thing?

I recently got a new shirt from Marshalls that I will wear this Sunday for St. Patrick's Day.

4. How do you define achievement? How does your personal definition look similar to, or different than, society's definition? What's something you think is worth achieving in life?

I think achievement is going after your goals, regardless of the outcome.  It is not defined by material wealth.  Being true to yourself and values is achievement.  I think being a person of integrity is worth achieving.

5. What song is a good soundtrack for your life right now?

I have a serenity playlist with encouraging Chrisitan music, so it would be that or listening to another playlist called fresh days with songs about strength.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I am so thankful for texts from friends!

Have a great day!

Talking About it Tuesday/Weekend Wrap Up ~ March 12, 2024

Today in talking about it Tuesdays, I am recapping the weekend, a day behind.

Last Friday was an extremely lazy day for me.  I did work from home in the morning, but honestly, spent the whole day in my pajamas and didn't even leave the house.  It was nice to not have to go anywhere, but it made for a really quiet day.

Saturday morning, I met my sister at my niece's house, left my car there and rode with my sister for a night get-a-way.  Before I left, I got in lots of hugs from these sweet faces....

My sister and I went to Muscle Shoals, Alabama for the night.  Muscle Shoals is known for its musical history and the hotel had just renovated their rooms.  I thought they had some cool touches.
This table looks like a safe.  The black, tall thin item on the table is the telephone.
The hall light is this recording light that is used in music studios.
Next to the mirror, there were 2 hooks on the brass areas you see.

We went to the spa and got a stone massage.  It was so relaxing and nice.  We also enjoyed the steam sauna as well.  After the spa, we got dinner at the hotel

We both enjoyed this pecan crusted chicken salad with fruit. It is delicious!
Then I realized there is a Culver's in town so I splurged and got a mini chocolate custard.  It was so good!  We don't have these in the Memphis area, but I had just tried this in Charlotte a few weeks ago.

Sunday morning, we had breakfast at a diner then went on a walk at this beautiful area.
Today happens to be my sister's 57th birthday!  She is a grandmother to 8 and still teaches full time.  She is quite the go-getter and loves life to the fullest! I am thankful for this time we had.

Have a good day!

Share Our Lives ~ March 2024

Happy Monday!  Today I am joining the linkup with the topic.....

5 Items I can't live without

I wasn't exactly sure what direction to go with this.  So I am not mentioning the basic self care items like clothing, food & hygiene items.  In no particular order, these things came to mind....

 1.  Phone

My phone provides me with a bible, games, contacts, news, recipes, pictures, videos, and even tv shows.

2.  Ibuprofren

This would be my one medicine to have with me if I had to choose one.

3.  Sunscreen

Oh, how I wish I would have used more sunscreen in my younger days!
My current sunscreen I use is e.l.f.

4.  Hugs & prayers

This is my non-material item.  But my goodness, I need hugs and prayers and sure am sad when I have a day without a hug.

5.  Car

I am thankful for a reliable car to get me to and from different places each day.

Friday Favorites ~ March 8, 2024

Yay!  We made it to Friday!  Just a few favorites from this week to share............

I am beginning to do some things that bring me joy, so here are some of those favorites

Burning a candle in the morning as I am getting dressed

I love a shower steamer and loved reading the saying in this box.  My daughter gave these to me last year for a gift.

Cutting fresh flowers!

Another simple favorite was as I was shopping in Wal-Mart, I heard 2 of my favorite bands from the 80's.  Does that ever bring a smile to your face when you hear a favorite song/band in a store?  If you're wondering, the bands were Duran Duran and Huey Lewis and the News!

My last favorite of the week was having dinner last night with my parents, sister and her family, which includes all my greats!  My nephew cooked for us and I contributed the 2 loaves of sourdough I made on Monday.

Wishin you all a good weekend!

Currently ~ March 2024

I am always happy to participate with my friend Jennifer and her Currently link up series.

This month, we are looking at what we are currently loving, looking forward to, planning, wearing, and eating.

Loving
I am loving the sunshine we had over the weekend!  I sat outside for a little bit Saturday and my goodness, it is nice to feel the breeze, not sweat or worry about bug bites!

Looking forward to
I am looking forward to my youngest coming home for her spring break.  She will have 4 nights at home and I can't wait to have her at home again.

Planning
I am also looking forward to and planning a fun weekend in April!

Wearing
It is about to be dress time again!  I most recently bought these linen pants from Old Navy (which are the pants I am wearing in the picture above too).  I am usually wearing a cardigan most mornings, but I go between hot and cold lately, so I definitely dress in layers.

Eating
I cooked my first meal in about 3 weeks tonight.  It was very basic.....scrambled eggs, bacon, avoado, and a piece of sourdough bread.  I am eating a protein bar, a banana, yougurt and sourdough bread most days.  Then I usually fit in one other meal. Needless to say, my eating has been way off the past few weeks.

So clearly, I just had a slice of sourdough bread, but these are the 2 loaves I made this week.  I make 2 loaves weekly with the sourdough starter a friend gave me earlier this year.  This week, I will take these to a family gathering to share.  Typically when I bake 2 loaves, I cut them in half and freeze the bread.  I have been giving the half loaves away to friends and family and I usually try to keep one on hand for me.

Happy Wednesday!

Talking About It Tuesdays ~ Week Recap

I am joining up with Joanne to share about life the past week.

Last week, I put almost 2000 miles on my car on a road trip.  I got caught up on many podcasts and phone calls.  I was so thankful that my travels went safe with no travel issues, other than some normal traffic slow downs in Atlanta.

I began my trip in East Tennesee and met my oldest at a state park where we hiked down to this waterfall.  Coming back up was no fun....I stopped about 5 times to catch my breath.  It was good to have a few hours with her though!

Here we are on Be Real!  Anyone else do Be Real? I love to see my girls on this app.

I spent the night outside of Atlanta then drove the next morning to Charlotte, NC.  I had lunch with my siter-in-law  and then was able to spend the afternoon and night with my best friend there.

The next morning, I had breakfast with my mother-in-law and then drove down to Savannah.  I loved driving into Savannah as it is such a pretty city! Of course, the highlight was seeing my daughter there.  I loved seeing where she sits in her studio classes and her current projects.  We went to dinner, walked along the river and made a trip to Target.

So after spending 3 nights in 3 different cities, I made a long drive home.  I am so thankful for the one-on-one time I had with my girls, even though it was brief.  And having some face-to-face time with my best friend was so refreshing too.  I am thankful for the break from work and home.
I also stopped by 2 different Buc-ees along the way!

And in case you're wondering, these are my road trip snacks.  What are yours?

Exploring Vancouver ~ August 20, 2026

Today's post is about my time exploring Vancouver a little more.  I had a full day in Vancouver and then after a trip to Whistler, I h...
