Talking About it Tuesday ~Things in My Car

Good morning!  I am wrapping up the month of April with a Talking about it Tuesday.
Today I am talking about....my car!  I am so thankful to have a car.  Today I am sharing "Things in my car".

As I was looking around at all the misc. things in my car recently, I wondered what other people carry in their cars and thought I would share a glimpse into my car.

In the door pocket, I always carry a fold up umbrella, becuase you never know about rain.  I think I learned this when I lived in South America and rain was unpredictable in Bogota.  I always carried an umbrella and now that habit sticks with me, but I keep it in the car.  I also have a bottle of natural bug spray as well for summertime.

Next to the steering wheel, I keep my work name badge because I need that when I go into the hospitals for deliveries and events.  Then I keep my garage opener there instead of on my visor.
In the console, I have so many random things.  I do organize this, but I took this picture when it wasn't looking its best!
Here are most of the items:  stress ball, hand sanitizer from Trader Joe's, an egg my friend decorated for me at Easter, small tape measure, nail file, pens, hair clip, lipstick and lipbalm, hair tie, kleenex, eyeglass cleaning cloth and a quarter in case I go to Aldi and need a shopping cart!
Here it is a little more organized!
In the console box, I keep work parking tags, a bag of basic medicine (tylenol, ibuprofren, stomach medicine, bandaids), and of course, restaurant napkins!
In the glove box, I have my car manual, a headlamp, a random pair of sunglasses and some plastic silverware.
Either in the backseat or trunk area, I keep this emergency kit, cleaning cloths, blanket and a hat.  I always have a hat in the car to protect me from sun if I go on a walk.
Other random things I have often are my reusable grocery bags and a roll of toilet paper.

What are some regular and random things you carry in your car?

Hello Monday ~ April 29, 2024

My weekend was pretty low key.  I worked Friday and had a quiet night at home Friday and Saturday.  I watched 2 movies....Under the Tuscan Sun and The First Daughter.  I really liked The First Daughter.

I took a walk to the lake since the weather was so nice!

I also finally put away my Easter decorations, washed my makeup brushes and organized my closet and summer clothes.  That was a good feeling!

Sunday, I went to church, lunch with friends, did a local home tour and went back for a dinner at church Sunday night.  I am so thankful for my church family!

Now it's off to a Monday.  I have a few fun things planned so I am excited for the week.
Have a good Monday!

Friday Favorites ~ April 26, 2024

Happy last Friday of April!  Here are some favorites from my week.........
Costco

I made a trip to Costco, which I had not done in probably over a year.  I took my time and went down most aisles.  Here are the things I purchased.....

My food items
Simple Mills almond flour crackers - These are delicious.
Gummy bears - I plan on having a sleepover with great nieces and the theme will be gummy bears!
Avocados - because, why not?
Greek yogurt - I use this in my smoothies
Fairlife - This is new to me, but they really do taste like chocolate milk and it has 30 grams of protein.
Chicken meatballs - This is a new item to me, but they do taste good.  I cooked these in the air fryer this week.
Frozen strawberries - I also use these in my smoothies.
Tru Fru - I heard Sophie Hudson talk about these on the Big Boo Podcast and these are a tasty snack.
Bare chicken nuggets - These are similar to Chick-fil-A and will be good to have on hand when the girls are in and out this summer.
Household products
Hand soap - I love these decorative bottles I will use in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Body soap
Shampoo/Conditioner
Colgate toothpaste
Moisturizer

All of these products should last me at least until the fall!
This was a new to me product.  I came home and read reviews on this & look forward to using this as my morning moisturizer.

Zoo

I had a few hours this week in between my work day and an event at the hospital I was invited to on Tuesday night.  Tuesday afternoons are free days at the zoo, so I went there to walk, enjoy the beautiful weather and of course, got to see all the animals!  We have such a great zoo here.

Buc-ees

I learned that a Buc-ees is coming to our area, which will probably be 20-30 minutes away!  This won't open until sometime next year though.

Prayers

I am thankful for the prayers from many of you for me next month.
Have I mentioned how thankful I am for this fun community of friends?

Have a great weekend!

Monthly Musings ~ April 2024

Good morning!  It's the end of month link up time and this has always been a fun one to join.  It is Monthly Musings!

1.  Favorite thing about spring?
I love seeing new flowers blooming in all the yards! I also love the cool mornings and evenings.

2.  What are your spring traditions?
I am not sure I have any spring traditions, other than spending April cleaning up the yard.

3.  Favorite spring outfits?
I don't have specific spring outfit, but as the weather warms up, I start wearing dresses paired with either my regular denim or white denim jacket.

4.  Favorite springtime meal?
I love a good salad with fresh strawberries or mandarin oranges.  I don't make this at home that often, but do love to order this when I am at a restaurant.

5.  Spring rain....love or loathe?
I do enjoy a spring rain.  After a few days of rain, it is good to see the sun though!  The fresh rain is so good for the plants and grass.

6.  Favorite spring flower?
I love so many...hydrangeas, lilys, and roses all come to mind.  I do have a hibiscus plant this year though that is so pretty!

7.  Do you get seasonal allergies?
I don't really battle this too bad.  I usually keep OTC allergy medicine on hand, but it isn't a daily struggle thankfully.

8.  Favorite springtime beverage?
I rarely go to Chick-fil-A these days, but I would say the first drink that popped into my head is a diet lemonade from Chick-fil-A, or better yet, a frozen diet lemonade.

9.  Do you change your home decor for spring?
I am trying to just have fresh flowers in my home and I have this little bird on a side table. That is about it!

10.  Lemon meringue pie or strawberry shortcake?
While I do love strawberries, I would go for a lemon pie over the strawberry shortcake.  Better yet, even a strawberry pie or a key lime pie!

What's Up Wednesday ~ April 24, 2024

Oh April, where did you go?  So often I want to go back in time, but other days, I am ready to fast forward.  It is a struggle to balance between the two, but clearly, life is just one day at a time and here is a re-cap of April!

What I'm eating this week.........

Monday - chicken meatballs and broccoli

Tuesday - Trader Joe's tomato soup with crackers

Wednesday - shredded chicken and cottage cheese queso dip
If you haven't made this dip, give it a try!  It has protein and is a little healtheir than what you can buy at the store:
1 cup cottage cheese (regular, low fat or non fat will work)
1/2 c. shredded cheddar or mexican blend cheese
1 tablespoon (or to your liking) taco seasoning
Mix in small food processor to blend cottage cheese with cheese and seasoning.

Thursday - something out

Friday - homemade pizza
I have been making a homemade pizza crust with my sourdough discard.  I warm it in my small black cast iron skillet.  Then I add marinara sauce, turkey pepperoni and a little cheese.  Then I bake in the air fryer and it is pretty good.

What I'm reminiscing about...........

Oh, I am still reminiscing about how fun my trip to Nashville was!

What I'm loving..............

Y'all know I love anytime I get to see my greats.  I saw 7 of the 8 last Thursday.  They just bring me so much joy. Here are 5 of them!

What I've been up to............

Honestly, the first thought that popped into my head is turning the fan on and off, turning the heat/ac on and off in my car and putting a cardigan on and off at work or any other public place.  Needless to say, I go between hot and having a chill quite a bit these days.

What I'm dreading...............

I have a few days on the calendar that may be hard for me next month.  I am trying to be pro-active, but still dreading those days. Would you pray for me on the 12th and 23rd?

What I'm working on..........

I am working on going through my closet as I begin to transition from winter to summer.  I was inspired by Amy to do this!
I am also working on being a little more organized when planning blog posts and hoping my new cute notebook inspires me.

What I'm excited about............

I am excited to say that I am joining up with Jennifer, Tanya, and Joanne for a new monthly book link up!  Join us the first Thursday of each month to "Share Your Shelf"!

What I'm watching/reading..............

I have been struggling to watch something on a regular basis these days.  I will share a few reading items next week!

I am listening to lots of podcasts and this was an interesting listen if you are over 50!

What I'm wearing.................

We had a bit of a cold spell over the weekend through Monday, so I actually was wearing some lightweight sweaters. I have ordered a few new things I hope to share soon! Otherwise, I am about to move into "wear a dress every day" just to stay cool.

What I'm doing this weekend................

No plans as of now....hopefully something comes up!

What I'm looking forward to next month..............

I have 2 trips next month....The first is to visit my brother and sister-in-law and my nieces. The second will be to move Brook home for the summer!

What else is new..................

Last week, a co-worker brought in her 2 month old baby for us to meet.  Needless to say, I was so excited to meet her.  It was precious to get her to sleep in my arms and just hold her.

Bye bye April!

Hodgepodge ~ September 10, 2025

  1. What gives you energy? What takes it away?  Good music, hugs from my daughters & greats & laughter with friends gives me energy...
