Songs
O Holy Night
-Josh Groban's version is my favorite, but I like most versions! This is my favorite.
"A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices."
Not much else sums up the Christmas season for me like that sentence.
Away in a Manger (3rd verse)
-In case you are wondering,
"Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask Thee to stay / Close by me forever, and love me, I pray" and "Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care, / And fit us for Heaven to live with Thee there".
Breaking down each line of that verse, I just love. Be near me Jesus. Close by me and love me. Bless the children. Fit me for Heaven to live there forever. I just love each of these words and meaning.

- If you have read my blog for a few years, you may remember that this was a Christmas night tradition for our family. So I have watched this at least 20 times! I still usually get something new out of it and a few places always get me. I will forever recommend this movie. Since our world crumbled after my former spouse left us, we didn't watch it for the first time last year and probably won't this year. Maybe in a few years I can watch it again, but probably at a different time during the season. New traditions are happening each year. Speaking of crumbling, crumbs remain, hurt remains, grief remains, but hope is stronger than all of that and I am leaning into new hopes and traditions.
That took a turn, but I hope you have a great day and let me know of any Christmas music/tv/movies you would recommend for me! I have a lot of Hallmark to catch up on and several on Netflix too.
Happy Tuesday friends!
The third verse lyrics to Away in a Manger are so good! And Oh Holy Night- the music and the lyrics are really moving. I love The Office Christmas special- so funny! I haven´t seen a lot of the other ones. Christmas Vacation is probably my favorite Christmas movie. Have you seen 8-Bit Christmas? It´s really good. I think it came out last year or the year before. Have a great Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteOh Holy Night is my favorite Christmas song too and I LOVE the Brady Christmas special- reminds me of our childhood :)
ReplyDeleteI love those songs, but especially that second verse of Away in a Manger. I can't ever sing that without tearing up. I love those movies, too! I haven't watched any of the regular ones I used to watch either, and I don't know that I will. It's hard to still be picking up the pieces of the mess they left us in. I feel something almost everyday. I'm ready for this to go away.
ReplyDeleteYou reminded me to listen to Josh Groban and Michael Buble. I love their voices! I've been playing Alexa for Eddie Otis but it's also been for me.
ReplyDeleteI can't hear "Here Comes Santa Claus" without thinking of my Dad. He was always singing something but he seemed to love that song and he sang it "Santy Claus - lol".
I love O Holy Night and I remember Away in a Manger well from school performances. I love all of those movies too, they really are the top Christmas ones!
ReplyDeleteOh I always loved the Brady Christmas special! I enjoy most of your favorite movies too though I haven't watch many at all this year. I haven't felt like baking or listening to Christmas music either. We're hoping to start some new traditions this year too since we don't seem to have any left. I'm honestly not sure what we're going to do for Christmas eve..
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever watched Four Christmases or The Nativity. I will have to watch them. I remember you talking about The Nativity before. O Holy Night, especially those lines, is also a favorite for me.
ReplyDeletePS. Which Nativity movie do you watch - I see one from 1978 and 2006 and a tv series from 2010 when I look it up.
I would recommend Noel Diary on Netflix. I’m usually very diplomatic (due to a thirty eight year career as a speech pathologist), but I have to say your ex was an idiot to leave you and your girls— just saying’!
