Talking About it Tuesday/A Gummy Bear Party ~ June 11, 2024

Good morning!  I am joining today's Talking About it Tuesdays to talk about a gummy bear party!

As mentioned previously on the blog, my daughter and I hosted a gummy bear party for the sweetest little girls yesterday.  This all started after 2 of my great nieces talked about how much they like gummy bears and we decided we should have a party and eat gummy bears.  I decided to invite a few more little girls from church and then started on buying fun touches for the party.  I use to love planning birthday parties for my daughters, so this was channeling my inner birthday party planning that I had not used in a while.

Welcome to the party!
In the background, you can see the box of making gummy bears.  They turned out okay, with some flavors being better than others, but it was fun to do.  We served grapes, pizza, and cupcakes with gummy bears for lunch.
The table all set with little bears for everyone, bear pencils, bear necklaces and we had light up gummy bear lights as a centepiece with gummy bears.
My daugher and 2 of my great nieces.
Love these girls so much!  In the background, you can see the little gummy bear banner we made.  I purchased the clip art from Etsy and we printed this at home.
We colored and did a sorting game of the gummy bears.
Then we mixed the portions to make gummy bears.
Such a fun morning with these girls!

I hope you all have some young people in your life to love on and it was nice to give these moms a break on a summer morning.

Happy Tuesday!

Hello Monday/Share Our Lives ~ June 10, 2024

Good morning.  I am linking up with Hello Monday and Share Our Lives today.

I worked Friday morning for a few hours then spent some time at home organizing a few things for a yard sale. However, the highlight of my Friday was finding out I won an Amazon gift card!  Y'all know all the giveaways on instagram?  I finally won one!  This wasn't a huge amount, but enough to get something extra, so I was excited.  Lawd knows, I have been finding a lot on Amazon lately.

Saturday morning, I was up early to participate in a neighborhood yard sale.  My parents and sister donated a lot and some things sold, but still had a lot of things left.  I think this was the end of me and hosting a yard sale.  Most of what I sold was just little stuff, so it wasn't a big money maker.  However, I was able to sit outside for the morning with my husband (and it wasn't hot!) & got rid of some things. I was completely exhausted afterwards.  I had originally thought I would do a few things around the house that afternoon/evening, but all I managed to do was to get this pecanberry salad from Mc Alisters and then went to bed early.

Sunday, I kept the nursery at church then came home to prep for the gummy bear party I am hosting for some of the sweetest little girls today.  I was still pretty exhausted from Saturday honestly.

Now on to share foods to make for someone else....

Currently, the number one food I make to give to someone else is sourdough bread!

Typically if taking food to someone, I like to take a breakfast food, like muffins and fruit.

For a meal, I would probably prepare a sheet pan meal with grilled chicken and vegetables that is easy to prepare, healthy and hopefully something most people would eat. Here are 3 good recipes...

Have a great day!  I'll be over here feasting on gummy bears :)

Friday Favorites ~ June 7, 2024

Happy Friday!  Oh, I am thaknful to be sharing some favorites this week with you since I have missed the past 2 Fridays due to not being at home.

ONE

Oh, watching these little girls dance last weekend was a favorite.

TWO

I joined Jennifer and new friends for our first book club Monday night.  We discussed the book Still Standing.  You can read more about this book and other books from our Share Your Shelf link upShare Your Shelf link up posted yesterday.

THREE

I subscribe to lots of podcasts, but only listen to a few of them each week.  This week, I listened to an episode from Our Time to Rise (This use to go by the name Open Door Sisterhood).  I reached out to the hosts and was so touched to receive a personal voice message from the host and she actually prayed for me by name too.  The timing of this was a God send that I can't even explain right now, but the encouragement was so meaningful.  This podcast is hosted by Krista Gilbert & Alexandra Kuykendall.

FOUR

I am volunteering at non-profit this summer by serving dinner once a week for the next 5 weeks.  This is a non-profit ministry that works to roof houses in a low income neighborhood.  Our family worked with this ministry when our girls were little.  It is a joy to be back serving the campers and staff who work during the day.

FIVE

I can relate to this image so much and it made me laugh this week. Anyone else with me on this?

That wraps up the week....Have a great weekend and I will be back next week!

Share Your Shelf ~ June 2024

Good morning and happy Thursday!  Thanks for joining Joanne, Jennifer, Tanya and I to share about the books you have been reading.  Please link up with us below and share some comment love to our fellow bloggers!

The first book I read last month was Saltwater Cove by Amelia Addler.  I am not sure how I exactly found this book, but I really enjoyed it and hope to read a few more by her in this series and try one in her other series too.  This is the first in the Westcott Bay series and is about a 48 year old woman who moves to an island where she is gifted a home from her brother.  While there, she meets some unexpected family, there is some trauma, but also unexpected love found.  I enjoyed reading this (on my tablet) while also listening to it at the same time (on Spotify free books) while walking on the treadmill.  It was a win-win!

I think most readers are familiar with Melanie Shankle from The Big Boo Podcast.  This book is 9 years old.  Yes, that's right.  I have always wanted to read her story about friendships and I really enjoyed hearing her read her story and learn some new things.  I think my favorite parts were the quotes about friendship at the beginning of each chapter.

The last book I read is Still Standing.  The subtitle is:
How to Live in God's Light While Wrestling with the Dark
This book tells the story of Courtney Joseph and the dark days she walked in her marriage.  This book had a lot of powerful, sad stories in it and as someone going through some hard times in marriage, I could relate to a lot of it.  All the way through the book, she points the reader back to Jesus, no matter what season of hard they may be experiencing.  This is the book we discussed at book club hosted by Jennifer this week.

I am looking forward to hearing about some reading recommendations from you and thanks for linking up with us!

It's almost Friday!  Have a great day!

Currently ~ June 2024

Happy Wednesday! It is the first Wednesday of June and that means it is time to talk about Currently with my friend, Jennifer.

Today, we talk about what we are loving, looking forward to, enjoying, seeing, and lounging around in.`

Loving....
I loved having both my girls home last weekend.  While out shopping Saturday, they found these hats that each say "Favorite Daughter"!  They each are!  We will be together again for another wedding in 6 weeks.  We know a lot of people getting married this summer!

I am also loving having Brook home for summer!  Even though I am working most days, I love knowing she is home.

Looking forward to....
Next week I am hosting a Gummy Bear party for my great nieces! I love to plan a party and I hope this is fun for them. I am currently making preparations for this. Here are some things I have ordered:

Enjoying....
I am enjoying that weather is still in the 80's.  That is so much more bearable than the 90's.
I am also enjoying reading more and invite you to join Jennifer, Tanya, Joanne and I tomorrow with Share Your Shelf!

Seeing.....
More dishes in the sink, another car in the driveway, clothes in the hamper and I couldn't currently be happier to love on my college student for the summer.

Lounging around in.......
I don't really wear a ton of lounge clothes, except for Saturday mornings.  When I come home from work, I usually stay in my work clothes until the end of the day.  I wear dresses a lot this time of year, so I am pretty comfortable in the evenings.  The nights I do go on a walk, I will change into shorts and a t-shirt.

Have a great day!

Talking About it Tuesday/Hello Monday...on Tuesday ~ June 4, 2024

I am sharing today about last week & the weekend on a Tuesday.  Thanks for coming along to read!

I am headed back a few days in time to last Wednesday when I boarded a plane one way to Savannah, Georgia.  Thankfully, all my flights were on time and I made the 1 hour connection in Atlanta with changing terminals. Fun fact, my first job out of college was with Delta Air Lines! I worked as a reservations agent.  This was back before the internet when you still had to call to make an airline reservation!
The Savannah airport has rocking chairs out front as you wait on rides at the terminal.

I went to help move Brook out of her apartment, which was managed by the university, for the school year. When I found out she had some meal swipes left, I was determined to use as many as we could.  We did pretty good.  I arrived Wednesday morning and we left Friday morning.  I didn't buy us a meal until Friday morning!  We dined on campus Wednesday and Thursday to "save money".
I was able to meet her new roommate for this fall and see where she will be living.  It was so fun to run into a few of her other friends around town and meet them.  I also was able to meet one of her professors, which was great.

One of my favorite things to do in Savannah is walk along the river.  Savannah is such a beautiful, quaint town.

Brook's project this quarter was designing a building on this location behind the gates.  After holding our breath some, we finally got everything packed in her car and I rode home with her Friday.  The project sat on the dashboard for the ride home.

My oldest had come home for the weekend because she had another wedding to attend. Saturday morning, I made these biscuits from the biscuit mix I bought from Loveless Cafe on the super fun blog weekend I had back in April.  I had not made "real" biscuits in so long & these turned out so good! A friend of mine last week gave me some local honey she makes and I added that to the biscuit, which was amazing.
We did a little shopping on Saturday afternoon and Brook and I stayed home Saturday night while Isabella went to the wedding.

Both my girls went with me to church & it was so good to have them with me!  Afterwards, we went to see 3 of my great nieces in their dance recital.  It was long and we honestly looked at our phones a lot, but the dances our people were in was worth it all.  The laughter we had was what we didn't know we needed.  Oh my goodness, we couldn't stop smiling at all the littles dancing, but of course loved ours the best!  We spent a little time entertaining this one in the lobby in between some of her sister's performances.
]
Had to get a picture with the patient big brother who sat through 2 hours of dancing!
Dance recitals are not for the faint of heart, ha!

Thanks for reading and I will be back tomorrow with Currently and don't forget Thursday is our monthly Share Your Shelf to see what you have been reading.
