DL

DL...the airline code for Delta Airlines.  The group that worked for Delta Air Lines in Memphis was a very tight knit group.  While I was in high school, I always wanted to work for Delta.  I finally got that opportunity after college.  I worked in the reservations office for just a year, but then the office closed. It closed 20 years ago this month.   There was a reunion this month and over 100 people attended! Even though I worked there only a year, I had a great time seeing old friends.  I actually went on to work with a lot of them at travel agencies.

This group of ladies & I went on to work for American Express Travel together.  I actually have a picture of these ladies with me at one of my wedding showers!

Me with Jill, my mentor at Delta Air Lines.  She was a huge influence on me & it was so nice to see her in person & thank her 20 years later.

I worked with Nancy at Delta, and then at my most recent job in Memphis.

Delta & post-Delta co-workers, Erma & Denise

Me with my sweet friend Tina.  We also worked together after Delta.

Carolina time again

We made another trip to the Carolinas this month. It was part of our required training with Mission to the World.  We do enjoy combining our training with spending time with friends & family along the way though!

We spent a weekend in Greenville with the Green family.  We love being there.  One of my favorite things to do is just be there, have a meal, & hang out with our dear friends.

Hammock time!

Tea party time

After leaving Greenville, Avery & I dropped the girls off to his parents in Charlotte, NC.  They spent the week there & were able to go to their aunt's wedding shower.   Here are some pictures they shared with me from the shower.

Avery's mom & sisters with the girls

The girls were glad to be at Sara's shower & are looking forward to being in her upcoming wedding!

Avery & I then continued to Brevard, NC to a Living in Grace conference.  It was a great week of teaching on grace & developing sweet friendships with missionaries going to Nicaragua, Honduras, Japan, Africa, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Thailand, & Germany.

Our name tags for the week

We spent a lot of time on our porch outside our rooms talking with other missionaries about life.

Our binder with many, many notes from the week!

Sweet friends!

Me with Angela Floyd.  She & her husband are also moving to Bogota, Colombia.  So excited to build friendships with them as we will be serving on the same team together!

Our group, including leaders

On our way home, we stopped to visit my nephew in his college town.  It was a great week for all of us!

The girls got to spend Labor Day with their cousins in Mississippi.  It was a fun Friday night to go their high school football game.  We also did some shopping, went to lunch, & went to the movies.

Cute styling girls ready for the game

Silly girls staying entertained at the game :)

Another Birthday

I was out of town the week of my other niece's birthday, so I didn't mention it my other post.  My sweet, pretty niece Anna also had a birthday this month.  Here are few pictures in honor of Anna and I'll have some more of her soon to honor another special occasion!

Birthdays deserve a post

It has been a few weeks since I've written anything. It is hard to find time.  And a little motivation too. But I did change the look of the blog, so maybe that will help. September brings a few birthdays in our family, so I'll honor those in this blog.

First, my brother-in-law Scott turned 40!  And because I don't have pictures from last year on my computer, I don't have any pictures of him to post.

Next, my niece Eden celebrated a birthday.  She is 6 weeks older than Brook, & these 2 girls can never get enough of one another!

This week, we celebrated both Avery & Nicole's birthday.  They share the same day.

We visited Nicole at her school where she teaches on Thursday to wish her a happy birthday.  We also were able to talk to her students about Colombia and read a book in both English & Spanish.  Don't get impressed that I know any Spanish.  It was Dora & I struggled through it.  So grateful for my first niece & for her making me an aunt!

I cooked birthday dinner for Avery with the menu of his choosing.  Here is his request:

Focaccia Bread, better known as "Mrs. Green's bread" around our house

Pork tenderloin

Asparagus

Sweet potatoes

Isabella decorated

Coffee Caramel Cheesecake

This is my homemade version of the cheesecake I have blogged about before that we like so much.

Next week I'll be back on track with pictures & get caught up in chronological order!
