What's Up Wednesday ~ May Edition

What we're eating this week...........
We have been at Camp Palmer this week. So far, we grilled out Sunday night, Monday night was spaghetti at camp, Tuesday was road trip food for Avery and I (the girls were still at camp), tonight is pork loin and I am thinking we may be out to eat the rest of the week!

What I'm reminiscing about................
hanging out with friends in Bogota; I do miss my friends there quite a bit.  Moving is good, but hard.
My sweet friend, Sarah.

Saying goodbyes in Bogota

These people have been so dear to us.

What I'm working on........................
keeping things clean and organized at home as we prepare for guests

What I'm excited about.............................
Summer activities for my girls

What I'm watching.............
Last week, we watched the finale of The Voice (it was our first season to watch from the beginning and we really enjoyed it) & I'm watching The Bachelorette with friends.

Me with Blake Shelton (wax figure, of course!)

What I'm listening to.....................
The past week I have been listening to good bible teaching, worship and laughter from kids every day.

What I'm wearing...................
t-shirts and jeans lately since we have spent most of our time outdoors

What I'm doing this weekend................
Cleaning as we get ready for another set of guests

What I'm looking forward to next month.....................
my best friend from NC comes, VBS at church, & hopefully some house projects

What else is new................
My in-laws are in town for a few days so we hope to find some fun Memphis things to do we haven't done before.

Friday Favorites

We gathered Monday night to watch the premiere of the new Bachelorette season with our normal crew...Kyle & Gardner, Andy & Rachel, who of course added baby Wilder to our crew.

I held him during the entire show and loved it.

Avery and I celebrated 19 years of marriage Tuesday.  Here we are 19 years later.

The girls gave us both thoughtful gifts of things we love and a sweet card.

We wanted somewhere casual and we got it along with delicious food.

This was our first dessert.

And our second dessert...a mix between doughnuts and croissants.

Cooler temperatures is a favorite!

One of my closest friends and teammate in Bogota had her baby Wednesday!  We couldn't be more excited for she and her husband!  They have experienced 3 miscarriages and 1 stillborn baby prior to this.  And the sweetest thing, her son was born on her birthday.  What a precious gift!

We are so excited about our annual Camp Palmer trip!  Here are photos from the past 2 years & gives you a glimpse of how we spend our days!
fishing

ready to rock climb

being silly with friends

lots of walking

music and dancing....with chickens!

worship time

bible teaching time

adventure climbing

taking a break from archery

dancing

playing cards in free time

And lots of other fun things!

Happy Weekend!

BBQ Festival

Last weekend we attended the annual World Championship BBQ Contest, known as the BBQ festival, which is part of the annual Memphis in May events.  This year, Memphis honored Colombia, which was so fun for us.

We had some friends invite us to their tent and give us admission tickets.  This was our view while eating our first plate of BBQ.

A BBQ restaurant from Bogota came to the festival.  We went to say to the chefs because we have eaten at their restaurant in Bogota.

Most of the booths had some Colombian theme and some were more elaborate than others.

We spent the second half of our time there in another tent visiting with some other friends.  Here was my second plate of BBQ!

It was nice to be downtown again and see the sunset and riverboats.

We love Memphis! (&BBQ :))

Show and Tell Tuesday ~ Travelogues

Before I get into today's show and tell theme, here is a show and tell for you:

19 years ago today
19 years later
Today's theme is Travelogues:  the best and worst of trips.

Thankfully, I have had very few bad trips and lots of good trips in my lifetime!  I am going to highlight two of many very good trips.

Orlando, November 2015
We started the trip by going to Sea World and the girls loved seeing dolphins for the first time.

Then we headed to the Disney parks for several days.

After a few days at Disney, we went on a short, 3 day cruise.

Brook (& Avery) was able to swim with the dolphins, even though it was a stormy day :(.

We took this trip when we were still living in Bogota and it was so refreshing for us, we all had fun, and had saved up for the trip and paid for most of it in advance, so that was a bonus too!

Europe, January 2014

So this was actually a month of training for us, but we are thankful for the travel we were able to experience on our own along the way.
This picture is a little dark, but I like this picture of the girls and I on a cute street in Brussels, Belgium.

The plaza in Brussels

Belgium is a beautiful country.

Belgian waffles are the best.
I remember taking this night to myself and taking the train from where we stayed into Brussels.

Avery and the girls in Amsterdam.

Paris

The girls in front of Buckingham Palace

There are so many other wonderful trips, but these two are the ones that immediately came to mind.
Looking forward to more fun travels in the future!
