What's Up Wednesday ~ December 2020

Hope you all had a great holiday!   I have enjoyed taking a break off for the holidays, but will get caught up soon on a Christmas update.  Until then, I am posting for  the last What's Up Wednesday of 2020, even if there isn't a link-up today!

What we're eating this week..........

Monday - pesto shrimp pasta at a friend's house
Tuesday - leftovers
Wednesday - Hawaiian BBQ Chicken in the slow cooker
Thursday - New Year's Eve meal:  BBQ sausage, cheese & crackers, deviled eggs, sausage balls, cookies
Friday - New Year's Day:  ham, black eyed peas, cornbread, leftover NYE food :)

What I'm reminiscing about...........

My reminiscing would be the normalcy of this time last year.  Just not knowing what 2020 would hold and makes me wonder about 2021.  I take refuge in knowing the Lord has gone before us though!

What I'm loving............

I love having flexibility with my schedule.  I love being able to help when needed and spend time with friends and family.

What we've been up to.............

I feel like we have been up to eating lately :).  While the eating has been fun, it has been a lot.  Other than holiday eating, we have spent some family time together and these days seem to fly by so fast.

What I'm dreading...........

My immediate thought is just taking down the Christmas tree.  I normally have it down by New Years, but am leaving it up since we have company coming this week.

What I'm working on...............

I am working on Quick books for our family business and will be doing the January routine of organizing and getting rid of stuff.  My goodness, little things add up and I don't want to have stuff everywhere or every drawer/cabinet full.

I am on a job search for a part time job in 2021, so would appreciate prayers for that.  As some of you know, I worked full time as a travel agent, but was placed on furlough last March.  Since the rebound has been slow for corporate travel, it is time to look elsewhere.

What I'm excited about...............

I am excited about the thought of doing some traveling in 2021!

We have a quick trip in January via car, an air reservation for March and hoping to make a reservation soon for travel in May.

What I'm watching/reading.................

We just finished season 2 of Virgin River and are big fans of that show.  Other shows I am watching is All Rise and finishing up some Hallmark Christmas movies.

Reading is my goal for 2021.  Unfortunately, I am not much of a reader.  I have begun reading more the past few months though and have a stack of books I would love to read in 2021.

What I'm listening to..................

Well, now that Christmas music is a thing of the past for the next 10 months, I am back to my regular programmed stations :).  My music preferences being anything from 80's, 80-90's country, Christian music or Harry Styles.

What I'm wearing..............

Most days, due to all the eating, I am wearing leggings and a sweater :).

What I'm doing this weekend..............

My in-laws will be in town, so we will try to find some outings or movies to watch while they are here.

What I'm looking forward to next month..............

My husband and I have a quick road trip next month, so looking forward to time away.

What else is new...............

I do have a prayer request for my niece.  This is my niece who is the mom of my greats.  She is currently expecting another baby, but the baby has a genetic condition which will likely take his life at birth or soon thereafter.  Please join me in praying for a miracle for the baby's development in the womb for the genetic abnormalities and other defects.  She will return to the doctor in 5 weeks for an update.

Please go to her instagram for more updates and pray for a miracle:  nicolevcole

Friday Favorites ~ December 18, 2020

Good morning!  Today I am linking up with Friday Favorites.

ONE

I shared my Christmas home tour on Tuesday.  I have actually made a few additions and changes since then too!
I ordered these stocking name tags from Etsy and love the look!

TWO

Hands down, the sweetest favorite of the week is I became a great aunt again!!  My sister (the grandmother) and I had our traditional picture in the hospital parking lot like we did when another great niece was born back in May.  More pictures to come of the newest sweetest baby!
Seeing pictures for the first time of your grandchild.

THREE

A sweet friend took me for a belated birthday lunch this week.  We had mimosas, popovers and redfish with asparagus.  It was all amazing and a fun outing!

FOUR

I organized baking supplies and am looking forward to some Christmas baking, hopefully this weekend.

FIVE

Well, not so much a favorite, but Hart of Dixie left Netflix this week.  I spent a lot of time before it left binging the last season.  I just discovered this show this year and it was a bright spot :).

SIX

I got a new side table and rug this week for our living room!  The side table is an early Christmas gift.  We have a new (to us) chair coming this weekend too, so I am excited for the new pieces that give our living room a lighter face lift! I moved my nativity sets that you saw in my Christmas tour earlier this week to this new table. I will show the rug next week once we get our chair and everything organized.

SEVEN

My college girl is finally came home yesterday!  It will be nice to have us all here for the holiday.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend full of family, friends, baking, wrapping, Christmas movies and all things that bring you joy.

Tuesday Talk ~ Christmas Home Tour 2020

It's been slow on the blogging side for me this past week, but I am back sharing my Christmas decorations.  These make me so happy so I am happy to share them with you!
We added some additional lights this year to the front porch and bushes.
This is a decoration I have highlighted before, but it is in a new spot this year.  I purchased this while we were living in South America.
My sister gave me this new block sign, which I added to my nativities display.
I always display this little stocking I made for my grandfather years ago.  He passed away 31 years ago.
Our breakfast area
Our dining room
This picture below was taken before we added presents.
Just a few small touches in our bathrooms..
Even mistletoe :)

Hope your week is off to a good start!

Let's Look ~ December 2020

Happy mid-week to you all!  Today I am linking up with the Let's Look At series which is looking at Christmas cards today.
Christmas cards were mailed out this week and it was a fun trip to the post office with this fun charger in my car!
From my family to yours, Christmas greetings!

I am taking a slower week on blogging as I've just been spending time getting a lot of little things done at home, but plan to be back for Friday Favorites.

Have a great day!

Friday Favorites ~ December 4, 2020

Happy Friday!  I am linking up today for a few Friday Favorites from the week.

ONE

Advent Devotion

This week I started my new Advent devotion book.  A few highlights....
"Unlike every other human birth, the birth celebrated at Christmas was not a beginning, but a becoming.  Christmas wasn't his start, but his commissioning.  He was not created; he came."

TWO

Last night, I gathered with some of the women from our new church plant and we shared food and did a service project together for local nurses and Covid patients.  It was so nice to see friends and work together.  It was also nice to see all the Christmas lights in the area!

THREE

For the past year, I have wanted to update the curtains in our guest room, but it was one of those little things I just never did until this week.  The other curtains were given to us when we moved in, but I have changed the bedding since that time, so it was time for an update.  I found these pretty, but neutral blackout curtains for a great deal at our local Bargain Hunt store!

Before....
After.....
I keep my childhood toybox and my girls childhood dollhouse in this room for some toys whenever we any kids here.

FOUR

All the Christmas packages!  It has been fun to begin receiving gifts I ordered last week begin to arrive.  I hope to organize and start wrapping gifts this weekend.  I think I am 99% done with my shopping!

Have a great weekend my blog friends!
