Friday Favorites ~ May 30, 2025

Happy Friday!  Oh, thank you Lord it is Friday.  It's been a week.  I'm ready for another trip :). I do have some favorites to share from my week....

I bought 2 new make-up items this week.  First is this Cover Girl Outlast lipstick.  I have used it just a few days, but I really like it.
I also bought this mascara.  I have only used it once, but I also like it! I bought it at Target, but Amazon or other drug stores carry it as well.

Like so many other places, we have had a ridiculous amount of rain lately.  I have had a few flowers bloom, but weeds have also been growing.  I am hoping to work in the yard some this weekend.

Other favorites of the week, but not photographed...

dinner with Jenn at our favorite restaurant
coffee with a friend I hadn't seen in 2 years
dinner with 3 friends I have known for the last 20 years!
serving dinner at the hospital to families

Wishing you all a great weekend and here's to hoping to see the sun!

Monthly Musings

Hi!  I am linking up today for the Monthly Musings for May of 2025 all about kicking off summer!

1.  What are you looking forward to most this summer?
I always love the slower traffic on my way to work in the summer.  However, the thing I am looking forward to the most is having Brook at home for the summer!

2.  Any favorite summer traditions?
The tradition would be a vacation and time at my sister's pool with family around.

3.  Any summer travel plans?
I will go visit my other daughter for a night and then will spend 2 nights in Kentucky meeting a friend. I would love to have a night or two at the beach, but no plans yet.

4.  How do you red, white and blue?
I have some 4th of July decor, but I pull out less and less each year honestly.  This year, all my holiday decor is packed, so I won't be decorating this year.  When the holiday comes, I will wear some of these colors though!

5.  Beach, lake or pool?
Must one pick?  I prefer the scenery of looking at a beach, riding a boat on a lake and swimming in a pool.

6.  Favorite summer treat?
My favorite treat is frozen yogurt!  Who I am kidding....that is a year round treat!  I also love fresh strawberries and desserts with strawberries or key lime.

7.  Favorite sunscreens and self tanners?
I have used several others in the past, but this is my current self tanner I am using this year.  However, I only use this on my arms and legs. I use to use the face drops by this same brand, but I found it seemed to bring attention to my sunspots, so I no longer use tanning drops on my face.
8.  Best flip flops or sandals?
I don't have any favorite of these honestly.  I will be curious to read some of your recommendations!

9.  How are staying fit this summer?
I need to drink more water and stay moving so I don't overeat. I also want to eat more fresh vegetables.  That's the plan for now!

10.  Favorite summer themed movies?
The first one that came to mind was the classic "Vacation" with Chevy Chase.

Hodgepodge ~ May 28, 2025

Here we are the last week of May 2025 y'all!  Anyone else excited about a new month & summer?

I don't even have a lot of summer plans, but I am ready for it.  Can I just skip all the bugs though?  That is the worst part of summer for me.  I digress....okay, on with happy Hodgepodge Day!

1. What's your favorite room in your house and why?

Right now, I am enjoying my den as I recently sold furniture and re-arranged other furniture in my house.  Here are the updated photos of my den.
This is a print my daughter got me for Mother's Day and is a moss tree in Savannah.

2. What's something that will instantly annoy you?

Hearing news about someone from my past, someone who drives slow in the left lane and thinking about some hard things in life.

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...will you celebrate? How do you like yours? If you're not cooking at home is there a favorite place you like to go for a burger? Did you ever work in a fast food  restaurant?

I am actually going out to eat tonight at a restaurant that has excellent burgers, but I usually order grilled chicken and brussell sprouts instead.  When I do eat a burger, I eat is without a bun and sometimes with cheese, lettuce and tomato.

I didn't work in fast food, but I did work at a Golden Corral restaurant when I was in high school.

4. What are three scents you like?

Favorite candle scent - Vanilla

Favorite body scent - Brazil Nut by Trader Joe's

Favorite kitchen baking scent - Cinnamon

5. What do you miss most about being a kid?

I miss a lot of things!  I miss being in a home with a family, I miss the simplicity of being a kid in the 70's and I miss not paying bills, ha!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I wanted to say a sincere thank you for the kindness and support from my post last Friday.  I am truly thankful for that and for your prayers for me as I come to mind as I still walk through some tough times.  I am so thankful for friendships made through blogging!

Have a great Wednesday!

Hello Monday/Tuesday Talk ~ McKinney TX weekend/May 27, 2025

Hello Monday on a Tuesday and hope you had a good Memorial Day!
It was a rainy day here and I am so ready to see the sun again.
Now on to a weekend re-cap....

Thursday morning, I met up with Jennifer early and we drove over to McKinney, Texas where one of her sons lives.

After arriving, we changed and I was able to meet up with a couple who my family served with when we lived in South America.  It was great to see them and I ordered brisket for dinner, one of my favorites!

Friday morning, our sweet friend Tanya met us and it was such a fun day.  This was my anniversary, so I was so thankful to spend it with these friends in a different place.
We took a drive around McKinney to look at some houses and then stopped for a photo at the Starbucks in the Adriatica Village.

We then enjoyed a delicious lunch at Cadillac Pizza & shopped the McKinney square.
I loved this butterfly display!
After a rest at the hotel, we ate dinner at The Yard and spotted some McKinney bloggers.
I had brisket for dinner again, 2 nights in a row!
After dinner, I had a few photos taken and we walked to Emporium Pie for dessert.
We took a little drive afterwards to the Legacy West area.
After returning back to the hotel, I spent some time outside to be alone with some reflection, prayer and music.

Saturday morning, we had another selfie then went to lunch before we parted ways.
If you are counting, this is the 3rd time I had brisket on this trip!  This meal was so good....brisket, fried okra, sweet potato casserole and broccoli salad.

Sunday morning, I wore my new dress I bought in McKinney and my new bracelet.

Sunday afternoon, I went to my sister's house to celebrate my mom's birthday from last week and my brother-in-laws birthday.  The bonus was I was able to see my great nieces and nephews!
The storms rolled in a little later.

Monday was super low key and quiet for me.  I went to see the new Mission Impossible movie by myself at the theater.  It was good, however, it is a 3 hour movie!

I am thankful to be back at work today!
Enjoy your day!
