It's the last day of October! The happiest way to say Happy Halloween, without all the creepy aspects, are through the happiest characters.....Disney and the Peanuts gang!
No one in our family is dressing up tonight, but if we were and had the resources, this outfit above would be so fun because it is one of our favorite Tonight Show skits.
There are plenty of other things to indulge in here, so thankfully, they don't actually sell fun sized packs of candy here! Actually, the Halloween candy here is strange to us because 99% of it is not chocolate.
Backing up to our weekend re-cap, Avery has been overseeing construction projects at United Church of Bogota. Here he is with Andrew, our teammate and the pastor of the church, as they are observing work being done on the new playground. Avery worked Friday and Saturday at the church. Friday night, the girls had a joint youth group. Avery and I ate pizza with the youth folks then hung out at Juan Valdez, our coffee/hot chocolate spot here.
While Avery was working Saturday, Brook spent the day with Mariale at her house and they went out for lunch as well. Mariale's mom sent me these pictures from their day:
Such sweet friends & pretty girls!
Meanwhile, Isabella and I did some packing. I spent time organizing and throwing things away and filling more duffle bags. They fill up so fast!! While packing, I was listening to WRVR (radio station from Memphis) on my computer.
Saturday night, we all shared this candy bar I received last month from my teammate who had been to Memphis.
Sunday, we went to church and then had lunch with our friends, the Encisos, the family that introduced us to Colombia.
Here is a snapshot of our weather. I'm just waiting on Memphis weather to be out of the 80's...then I will come home :)
We had a 5.2 earthquake Sunday night and then felt the aftershocks here about 2 hours later (my best estimation is the epicenter was about 3 hours south of Bogota). It was bizarre. This morning at 6am, this was the view from our window. Needless to say, visibility was pretty low.
Stepping on our balcony, a few buildings came into view, but you couldn't see far at all.
And if you need a smile for your Monday morning, check out this photo I saw this weekend of my great nephew! Also, we decided I would be called tia, which means aunt in Spanish.
