Montana ~ Day 5 & 6

Today, I am wrapping up vacation in Montana with days 5 & 6.  It was a little cool to go white water rafting like we had hoped, so we went on a 2 hour horseback trail ride through Glacier National Park.  As we were signing waivers, we saw some friends of ours who use to live in Memphis and now they live in south Montana.  It was so crazy to run into friends there!!  Such a fun surprise though and we were all on the same horseback trail ride together.
Here we are with our friends and we had ice cream together afterwards.  Actually, Avery and I got the huckleberry milkshake :).
On our way into the park, we went the "back way" through another entrance and stopped for some scenic pictures first.
There were lots of pretty rocks and we brought some home too.
This is Avery and the girls photographing a bald eagle.
USA, Canada, and Montana flags
I finished up my huckleberry shopping on our last day at The Huckleberry Patch. Go check out this website to learn more about this berry and you can order from there as well.
From left to right, here are the products we brought home, which are all Huckleberry flavored:
lemonade, muffin mix, fudge, honey, preserves, sucker, dark chocolate, tea, popcorn and pancake mix.
We stayed at a hotel the last night since we had such an early flight the next morning.  We left our hotel at 4:30am for the airport.
We had a 3 1/2 hour layover in Salt Lake City.  I had my last few Huckleberry jelly beans and gummies while we waited.
Then, we had some of our Huckleberry fudge on the plane for flight number 2.
We then had a 4 hour layover in Detroit.
We watched the sunset and made it home 15 hours later from when we arrived at the airport that morning.
Thanks for sharing in some pictures of one of the most beautiful states in our country.

Have a great weekend!!!

Montana ~ Day 4

Hi!  So glad to be nearing a weekend again. Today, I am resuming our Montana vacation theme this week and today are highlights from days 4 and 5.
This is where we stayed for our honeymoon.  It is still going strong 20 years later too!
Me with a mountain goat...we did see some real ones later this day.
This is the train station at West Glacier where Amtrak arrives daily and this was our mode of transportation 20 years ago.
We saw a train going by so we took a picture :)
Brook in front of the train and the mountains
We drove to East Glacier and stopped at the lodge there for lunch.  We were scheduled to take a red bus tour of the park this day, but the road wasn't plowed completely due to snow, so we drove a different route on our own.

The view, temperature and views were beautiful.
This is my bison burger and tomato soup for lunch.
Inside the lodge was pretty too
Later in the day, we stopped for more huckleberry ice cream :)
Tomorrow, I will end the trip with days 5 & 6.

Montana ~ Day 3....A Favorite!!

I am highlighting our vacation to Montana this week, and this day has the most photos, but also the most special to me.
Today started with our official entrance into Glacier National Park.
We started the day by taking the trail to see where we got married.
We got married on Trail of the Cedars.
The original walk we set out on 20 years ago is under some reconstruction, so we entered the trail from a different entrance.
We made it to the spot where we got married! It was an emotional moment to be back there.
Here is the same photo split screen with us 20 years ago.
And below is another split screen photo:
Our rings, which are different from the ones we had 20 years ago.
This family photo is super special to me of our family standing on this bridge.

It was hard to stop taking pictures of this beautiful spot.
But, we finally headed from there on the trail to Avalanche Lake, which took us about 2 hours to hike up and 1 hour to hike down.
We found the spot above and had our picnic lunch there.  Several people walking by were very interested in our food.  I think we could have sold some snacks!
We finally made it to the lake. It was beautiful, even in the drizzling rain.
Tree roots
We saw a lot of marmots on the trip.
We had dinner in the park at a restaurant and then went to catch our boat ride we had reserved in advance.
Looking back from the boat dock to the lodge.
It was a bit windy and chilly on the water.
Looking back from the lodge to the boat.
We took a back road back to our house that night and saw this view.
This was a great day.
