Happy Hodgepodge Day!
2. What are your thoughts on tipping? What businesses or service providers do you regularly tip? Do you resent being asked if you'd like to add a tip? What about when a suggested amount is presented?
I tip when I have a waitress and I am seated. I don't tip when I am standing up to order. I am okay when a suggested amount is calculated to help me on the math, but I like giving the percentage I feel is fair.
3. I scream you scream we all scream for ice cream...do we? Is ice cream a favorite treat at your house? What's your favorite flavor? Regular, soft serve, gelato, sherbet, or some sort of non-dairy version of ice cream...what's your pleasure?
If you have been a reader of my blog, you probably know that my favorite treat is frozen yogurt. I usually start with a mix of sugar free chocolate/vanilla as my base and add in low fat caramel and/or cookies and cream yogurt on top. I rarely get toppings on my frozen yogurt.
Played outside every day; talked on the phone with a corded phone until the development of the cordless phone and then had "call waiting"; had no streaming services and had to hurry back before the commercial ended or wait for the rerun of the show to come back on during the summer; anticipated the TV guide with the new fall schedule; pushed play and record to tape a show from tv or from the radio...we even had a 8 track player with our stereo/record player. I could go on and on with more childhood things, but these are the things that first came to mind!
5. Somehow this is our last Hodgepodge in the month of June. Next week's Hodgepodge lands in July. Wow. Sum up your June using three adjectives.
Fun - My youngest daughter is home for the summer and I was able to see my oldest daughter too!
Surprising - I met a new friend :)
Hot - Summer has arrived in the South!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I spent the night at my niece's house Sunday night since she was leaving town early Monday morning. I was up by 6am watching tv and eating with this crew. Big brother was still sleeping. How fun to wake up with these faces! Hat's off to moms of young ones doing this every day!

Back in the day, fast food restaurants had low prices and big portions. Great outings for lower income folks with kids, especially the Jack in the Box Chicken Supreme. Good times
ReplyDeleteI loved all your back in the day thoughts. I think there was something about waiting for programs for a full week, and then waiting for reruns, that made us more patient people in general. I'm glad you've made a new friend : ) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI agree with that about tv! Me too :)
DeleteYes to fro yo! It is my fave too :) Oh the things we did growing up- I miss them- thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYay for fro yo!
DeleteThat was so nice of you to spend the night! I am finding that I can't tolerate sugar free coffee syrups or really anything anymore. When I get ice cream I don't need much so I always get a kid size.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to have your daughter there and you got to see your other one! Have a great trip this week!
It was fun to be with the kids. Yes and yes to the girls!
DeleteI love your "back in my day" answers! I remember all of those things so well, and the fact that we didn't have call waiting for a very long time. I'm so glad you're off on your trip and getting to see Isabella! And look at you mentioning your "new friend"! Love you, friend! Safe travels today.
ReplyDeleteMe too! Ha, yep!
DeleteI feel the same way when I am around very young kids. I'm like, I did this every day for years on end? I mean it's great but it's A LOT! How nice of you to watch your niece's kids! I am excited for you for your new friend :). I didn't know that fro-yo places have sugar free options- the ones closest to us have closed down so I don't go to fro-yo places often. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteExactly about the kids! Yes, a new friend is nice. I am sure there are some not so great ingredients in sugar free yogurt, but that is still my go-to!
DeleteI can relate to your back in the day memories a lot!
ReplyDeleteThey were some good ones!
DeleteOh wow! Living in Colombia sounds like an amazing adventure.
ReplyDeleteYour frozen yogurt picks sound so good!
When I think of back in my day I can't help think kids have it so easy now a days. lol
How lovely to spend the night at your nieces house. I don't miss the 6am wake ups.
It was an adventure for sure! That is so true about our kids. Oh, me either on the early alarm times!
DeleteWe were around littles this weekend and I remember thinking that you just forget how exhausting they are when you're not in that day to day life with them. They're adorable but man do they wipe me out! I am not a huge fan of toppings ON my ice cream or frozen yogurt but I don't like plain ice creams that don't have lots of "stuff" mixed into them either. But I don't discriminate against any frozen treats-- gelato, ice cream, frozen yogurt; they're all yummy.
ReplyDeleteSo true! I enjoy just the pure yogurt flavors too.
DeleteI will always think of you when I have a fro yo! I would have said many of the same things for "back in my day!"
ReplyDeleteI'm honored :)
DeleteThat frozen yogurt looks so good! So glad you got to spend time with your greats! I can remember all of your “back in the day” memories! Such a great time in life. I miss the simplicity of it all.
ReplyDeleteI do too! Hope you're having a good week!
DeleteI love your answers to #5! Happy Summer. Enjoy the time with your daughter and new friend. Oh, and stay cool. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Same to you!
DeleteI love all of your answers for the "back in my day" question... yes to all of those! And I can't wait to hear more about this new friend of yours! :o)
