Cruise 2022 ~ Day 5

Happy Monday!  My weekend was low key.   I am feeling good and went out to see the new Top Gun movie yesterday.  Like everyone else has reported, I thought it was good and worth seeing in a theater.

So, I am back with cruise updates :).  Today I am focusing on Day 5, which was my favorite port and excursion.  Last week, I have some earlier posts about the trip.

Day 5 - Cozumel, Mexico

Watching the sunrise from the balcony isn't a bad way to get any day started.

We got off the ship around 10:30 and there were several other ships docked at this port.

We took an excursion to a beach where we did paddleboarding and snorkeling.
This was my first time to paddleboard.
Isabella is quite good and even has her own paddleboard that she uses at college.
The rest of the crew did pretty good too.
I did stand a few times and only fell in once.  It was fun to try a new experience.

After about 30 mintues on paddleboards, we snorkeled.  It was a good feeling to push past my fears and be able to stay under water for more than 5-10 seconds!  I had tried this years before and couldn't get the hang of it. (on a side note, they had their own photographers who sold us these pictures from both adventures).

Afterwards, we had quesadillas, guacamole and while in Mexico, a margarita.  It was all so good.

We cleaned up and went to dinner and a show.

After a rest, I headed out alone to the 80's dance party.  It didn't start until 10:30, so this was my late night!  It was fun to hear the music, see the people and do a little dancing.

I'll wrap up on Wednesday with cruise food photos!  There is enough of those for one post, ha!

Cruise 2022 ~ Days 3-4

Happy Friday!  I am thankful to see Friday come so I am closer to regaining society after having Covid.  I had never even tested for it until a few days before our cruise.  Yesterday, I highlighted days 1 & 2  of our cruise that you can see here.  All my favorites are cruise related this week and next!

Today, I am highlighting days 3-4 of our cruise.  With all the pictures I took, there will be more posts next week, but I want to have a record of the trip here on the blog.  Trying to keep some of this brief too!

Day 3 was our first port day - Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Arriving at the port

When in Jamaica......
Yeah mon.....
We went to a beach area for a little bit.

The main highlight of the day was climbing Dunn's River Falls, which is the big attraction there.

Cleaned up for a casual dinner

Day 4 was our second port day at Grand Cayman.  At this port, we have to tender, which means we get on smaller boats which carry us to the port.
Here is a picture looking back at our ship and the tender boats.
Our ship, Carnival Horizon
We explored on foot there.
We found a neat little spot to hang out for a little while.
The beach was one of the most beautiful places I have seen....such clear water and clean sand.

That night, we cleaned up and went to dinner.
Unfortunately, Brook's finger got caught in a door, so she was hurting, but thankful it wasn't any worse.
After dinner, there was a silent disco on the deck.
Everyone is issued headphones and we had 2 channels of music to switch between.
It was super fun and even found more ice cream!

Next week, I will wrap up the last 2 days of the cruise.

Have a great first weekend of June!

Cruise 2022 ~ Day 1 & 2

Good morning!  Starting off now with about a week's worth of cruise posts....

Sunday morning, after breakfast at a cafe in Miami, we boarded our ship.  I was so relieved to finally be on board.  There was a sense of relief when we made it to Miami in time the night before and then being cleared to get on board provided another relief.  I had my first Covid test a few days before the cruise and thankfully, our family was all negative so we were set to board.
Taking a picture of the deck before it got too crowded!
On our last day at sea, we did both of the waterslides pictured below.
This was our room.  We had 2 adjoining rooms with balconies.  I have been on cruises before, but now, I am not sure I would want to go back to not having a balcony.  It was so nice.
These were our doors to our home away from home.
Every morning, this was my basic routine.....Sunscreen, foundation with more sunscreen, eyeliner, mascara, and eyebrow brush.  At night, I would add a little more updating before dinner, but my day routine was basic and just to protect my skin from the sun.
Tell me you're going on a cruise without saying you're going on a cruise :)
I got very light headed on my last cruise, so needless to say, I came prepared this time!  Thankfully, I did not feel sick on this trip.
The sail away party is always lively on a Carnival cruise!
Ready to sail away and say goodbye to work, school, and internet for the week!

Our first day at sea was our 24th anniversary.  It was a leisurely day on the boat, which included lots of food and I took a Thriller dance class.  Basically, the decisions I made all last week were about food and what to eat next.

This was our cruise elegant night in the dining room.
Afterwards, we went to hear a comedian on board.
Each night, we would find an animal towel on our bed.

We adjusted quickly to ship life and our port day adventures are coming up on the next posts.

Enjoy your day!

Currently ~ June 2022

Happy Wednesday!  Before I dive into cruise recaps, I am joining up with Anne for the monthly currently series.  The topics this month are celebrating, giving, taking, trying, and wearing.

Celebrating

Last month, we celebrated Brook's graduation.

This month, we are doing some belated celebrating.  Last week was our wedding anniversary while we were on our cruise, but we want to go out to dinner at home sometime this month to celebrate.

My mom turned 80 last week too and we are going to celebrate her birthday next week with family.

Giving

I am giving myself space to process disappointments and be reminded of scripture promises.  I am so thankful for all the celebrating and cruising, but life still throws some hard stuff and I am trying to get in a healthier place to process.

Taking

Unfortunately, I am taking tylenol around the clock because I took a Covid test yesterday and it was positive.  I had chills and a headache the night before, woke up still with a headache, had a fever and then decided I better take a test instead of going to work.  So, I am taking the week to stay at home, other than a walk around the neighborhood.  Maybe I will go on a drive, but with the price of gas, it is harder to go on a leisurely drive alone!

Trying

While on our cruise, I tried paddleboarding for the first time.  I started by sitting, then kneeling and actually stood up twice and fell once.

I also tried snorkeling.  I had tried this once before, but had never stayed in the water for more than a few seconds.

I also tried a ropes course on the cruise ship, however, I didn't make it all the way.  However, I did try the bike track around the ship!

Wearing

Since I am home all week, I am in pajama/leisure wear.  Otherwise, I am wearing dresses to work and wore dresses last week 5 days in a row when going to dinner on the cruise.

On a side note, the cruise was still worth it, even though I have come down with Covid.  Thankfully, my symptoms are very mild and I haven't had fever since yesterday morning.
