Friday Favorites ~ Week 7

We do have some incredible sunsets from our view every evening.

Celebrating at Isabella's party was a highlight of the week.  Yes, it was technically last week, but the clean up and after activities went into this week!

Because I was literally exhausted by Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday was a pajama day!  I didn't leave the house all day and this was after 9 hours sleep from the night before.

We have upgraded our Hulu subscription to watch shows without commercials and it has been well worth the money!  If we want to watch a tv show from the states, this is our source to watch it from on our computer.

Hope you all have a happy weekend!  I begin the moms ministry again this morning, have a baby shower to attend this afternoon, then a restful Saturday with possibly teammates coming over for dinner, and Valentine's Day on Sunday!

Brook's Greek Olympic Games

Today, our bi-monthly newsletter was emailed out, so if you didn't get yours, please let me know and go to www.bogotabridges.com to have it emailed to you in the future.

Brook's class just finished a study on Greece in Social Studies and her class had an Olympics Day last week and Avery and I were able to go watch the events.

Brook's presentation on Athens was hanging on the wall outside of her classroom.

Our Olympic star

Her team

Her first event was golf :)

She also participated in the team relay race.

This is Brook's class (Brook is on the back row) with her teacher (on the front row in the blue shirt).

Random Photos

This is the blog post full of the random photos that don't really have a blog place of their own!

1 ~ Bogota Traffic

This particular view is from our apartment balcony.  This is like at 10am on a Tuesday.

2 ~ MTW Evaluation time
Pray for us as we reflect and look ahead at this year and next.

3 ~ Brook' school work
This is her worksheet on the brain.

4 ~ Living in Bogota
This was the fog one morning last week.

And me just riding in our elevator because that's what you do when you live on the 16th floor.

5 ~ Isabella's field trip last week

Can you spot our gringo?

6 ~ Brook's school presentation on Christmas in France

That is the director of the school in the Christmas vest listening to their presentation.

Avery and I were at the school to hear all the presentations and Avery was making the kids laugh!

7 ~ Fires in Bogota

We have seen many fires lately around the city from our balconies. There has been a shortage of rain, so things are quite dry here.  One day, the fires affected the girls in their commute home from school

Hope you enjoyed some randomness of our life here!

Funny Fotos

It's been a while since I've done a funny fotos post, so here are a few fotos for your enjoyment today!

This is true in the case of our Playstation that came back to life last week!

Hilarious!

So true with my kids!

Notice this quote is by one of our favorite comedians, Tim Hawkins!

Guilty :)

This is in reference to the recent Powerball drawing.

And as a child of the 70's, I can relate to these!

And here is one last funny one I sent to my sister, who is a school teacher! Ha!!

Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday!  Even though the weekend was super busy and non-stop, this post will be short today because we are running on empty and I will be out of the house all day today and tomorrow with meetings and bible study.

However, I will post later with a few more photos from our weekend.  The quince party was great and we all had a nice time.

Friday was Isabella's 15th birthday, so I pulled out our Happy Birthday plate!

Avery and I were at the school for an event with Brook's class and got to take a photo of Isabella with friends on their break.

Friday afternoon was spent decorating with Clara and Angela to help us.

Saturday, Edwin, Laura, and John flew in from Bucaramanga to celebrate with us and they spent the night with us too.  We took them to lunch at Sbarro at our mall.

We worked all Saturday morning getting the room ready and it looked beautiful!

Isabella looked beautiful too!  Many more photos to come!

Sunday evening, we had the Floyds, our pastor, Javier, and another Colombian friend over to watch the Super Bowl.  It is quite different watching it here without any of the American commercials!

Standing for the National Anthem

It always gets me emotional and I thought Lady Gaga did a good job.

That's all for today folks!

Friday Favorites, February 2016

Happy Friday!  I did intend to post yesterday, however, our internet wasn't working until mid-day yesterday.

This cute little girl turns 15 today!!
Happy birthday to our Isabella!!
Check out www.bogotabridges.com blog for another post on her birthday :)

Avery hung photos on our wall of some of my favorite people this week!

About 3-4 times a year, Bogota has the day with no cars.  This basically means only buses, taxis and other forms of public transportation and hired transportation can be on the road.  I am officially a huge fan of this!  The city does this basically to reduce pollution, which is so terrible here because of all the buses. However, it obviously makes for a lighter traffic day, and my favorite part could be the lack of horns honking all day long!!

Basically, day without cars brings Bogota equal to traffic in any other major city.

For us, the other highlight was that because it was day without cars here, the girls had a virtual day from school!!  This means the girls did not have to physically go to school yesterday, but only had to do their assignments from home.  We all loved this and it was great to have this day the week of Isabella's party.  Speaking of her party, I was able to go to Pricesmart and return home in 2 hours yesterday!!  Normally, it is one hour each way and an hour for shopping.  Yesterday, we made it there in 30 minutes and then 30 minutes travel time back home!

Happy weekend and I'll post next week with photos from the quince party!
