Friday Favorites ~ March 29, 2024

Happy Good Friday Friends!  Here are a few favorties from the week...or what my week look liked!

Y'all, I watched a movie from the early 80's....An Officer and A Gentleman.  This movie is not for the children, but the music and this last scene gets me.

Tuesday was a hard anniversary day for me and I had a sweet friend bring me a smoothie at work.  I enjoyed it for the afternoon.

I am not sure why this took me so long, but I connected my TV to my Spotify account to play some music at home Tuesday evening.  My favorite song was the first to play.  This is "Goodness of God" by Jenn Johnson.

I bought myself some red roses at Trader Joe's.

Some of my dearest friends brought dinner over Tuesday night.  We laughed, cried and prayed together.

Two of my friends who came brought me more flowers!

Wednesday morning after my work at home, one of my closest friends came over and we ate lunch together and took a walk.

Thursday, I worked and was able to serve families at the hospital last night.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter with your family and friends!

Monthly Musings ~ March 2024

Happy Thursday!  I am linking up with Patty and Holly for Monthly Musings in March.
What is your go-to spring outfit?
My go-to spring outfit are dresses, cardigans, and light weight shirts.

Favorite spring fashion pieces?

My favorite is my white denim jacket, which I wear through the summer too.

Do you change up your handbag for spring?
I bought this handbag last year and I see me continuing to use this year round.

When do you bring out your open toe shoes?
I typically don't go to open toe shoes until late April-early May.  So, it won't be long until I will switch out my shoes!

Favorite spring scents?
I like vanilla scents year round for candles and also like floral scents this time of year too.  The only perfume I wear are samples that come in magazines, ha!

White after Easter?
Yes, I am use to tradition and don't wear my white until after Easter.  Of course, Easter comes so early this year!

Favorite ways to add spring to your wardrobe when weather is not quite cooperating?

I mentioned this yesterday, but one way to add spring for me is just to wear brighter colors instead of my winter black/gray/brown color scheme. I do like wearing my white jeans again this time of year!

Do you change up your make-up routine for spring?

I don't really make any make-up changes specifically for spring.  I do wear sunscreen, even through the winter.  I do change make-up occasionally, but it is more so to try new prodcuts vs. a change in the season.

How do you transition your wardrobe for spring?

I feel like my wardrobe is more of a summer/fall/winter with not a lot of spring.  Most of my clothes go from winter to summer.  During the spring season, I just have a cardigan with me since mornings/evenings are cooler than the afternoons.

Favorite spring accessories/jewelry?

I really like my gold earrings and gold belt to use this summer.  Come back next week to read about my Amazon purchases!

What's Up Wednesday ~ March 2024

What we're eating this week.......

My eating has been off this past month, so here are things I have been eating this month.
Good 'ol scrambled eggs, bacon and avocado

Of course, frozen yogurt.

Sourdough bread!  I make 2 loaves weekly, so I also give away a lot of bread.

This is a dish I was halfway through before I took a picture.  It is a base of zuchinni noodles with roasted sweet potatoes, chicken, kale and onions and peppers. This is from a local restaurant.

What I'm reminsicing about..........

Last night, I had a group of 6 ladies over for dinner and hanging out and it was so nice to be with friends!

What I'm loving........

I love cool mornings, warmer afternoons, and cool evenings.  This weather season is my favorite!

What I've been up to..........

Last week was a highlight to have my youngest daughter at home for the week.  In addition to that, I have been working and spending time talking with friends.

What I'm dreading.........

What time is it?  It is time to do my taxes before April 15th.

What I'm excited about..........

I am excited to see a friend this weekend & the fun things planned in April!

What I'm watching/reading..........

I am watching Rock The Block, Live with Kelly & Mark, Family Ties reruns - this is my new background show, The Way Home (a Hallmark show)

What I'm listening to...........

Here are some podcasts I am listening to -
Midlife Matters, Let's Read the Gospels, I Hate Green Beans, The Best of You, Therapy & Theology, The Big Boo Cast, Rhythyms of Life, Our Time to Rise, Proverbs 31, Don't Mom Alone, Over 50 & Flourishing.

I hope to get caught up on a lot of these while on a drive this weekend.

What I'm wearing..........
Above is my new shirt and below is my new dress, both which came from Marhsalls when I went shopping with Jennifer last month.  I am beginning to try the transition to summer clothes, but it is still cool here, so I am tyring to wear brighter colors at least and not go to my normal gray and black colors, ha!

What I'm doing this weekend..........
I hope you all find a place to worship this weekend to celebrate Easter.

What I'm looking forward to next month..........
1.  I get to see my oldest daughter.  It will be less than a 24 hour visit, but I will still get to see her and hug her neck!

2.  A girls get-a-way weekend!

3.  A day women's retreat with church

Have a great Wednesday!

Tuesday Talk ~ Tulip Time

Over the last 2 weeks, I have been to one of our local gardens twice to see the display of over 250,000 tulips!  I went once with a friend from church and then I took my daughter.  The tulips are beautiful and I wanted to share more pictures of them today.  There are so many varieties of tulips with beautiful features and colors.

Afew things I learned....the stripes on tulips were orgininally caused by a virus carried by aphids (insects).  Fringed and Parrot tulips are known for their ruffled edges.

Hello Monday ~ March 25, 2024

Happy Monday!  I am hoping to be a little back on track this week with blogging.  It was a great week last week with my daughter home, so I poured my energy into being present with her.  Now here is a recap of the weekend....

A sweet friend of mine from church celebrated her 40th birthday Friday.  I attended a brunch to celebrate her and it was a fun morning.
Here is a group of ladies from my church that attended.

After the brunch, I picked up Brook and we went to get our nails done.

We then went to an antique mall and did some shopping.

She hung out with a friend Friday night and I got caught up on some blogs.

Saturday was low key for us until I went to wedding shower/party Saturday night and Brook hung out with friends.

I took her to the airport early, early yesterday morning.  I watched her until she faded away into the crowd beyond the scanners and people.  Then I watched the sunrise before coming home to rest and get ready for church.  I loved having her home and already miss having here.  The house is too quiet again.  2 more months until I see her again.

I hope your Monday is a good one!

Friday Favorites ~ March 22, 2024

Hi friends! I have been slacking this week on blogging because it is my daughter's spring break and she has been home! Between time with her and working, I haven't spent extra time on the computer.  I am so tired at night after not sleeping so great these days, blogging has taken a back seat to real life with my girl this week. If I have told her once, I have told her 1000 times how happy I am she is home with me this week!

Some favorites from the past week......

This was me in my new shirt on St. Patrick's Day!

I drove to Tuscaloosa Monday, home of University of Alabama.  My daughter caught a ride there with a friend and I drove to pick her up and bring her home.  I came into town a few hours early to explore.  True disclosure, I am not an Alabama sports fan, but it I do love a college town and had to take a picture of the stadium where all these football wins have been.
I was a fan of the show Hart of Dixie, and this restaurant, Rama Jama, reminded me of that.

I worked on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.  Wednesday afternoon, we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant.  After feeling so full of chips, queso and the rest of our lunch, it was a beautiful day to go see the tulips at one of our local gardens.  I went here last weekend with a friend and wanted to take Brook to see the flowers.  I will post more about these Tulips next week.

We also walked around the art museum area and the work of this artist reminded me of something she would paint.

We took a walk around our neighborhood and lake that evening.  Still walking off our lunch!

I worked Thursday morning again, but left work early and we went to family dinner at my sister's house.  Not everyone could make it, but we still had fun and got to see 4 of the 8 greats.
These 2 cousin cuties had just come back from dance class.
I don't get many pictures with this great-nephew.  He is the cutest and loves any type of ball!

Today, we have a few things on the plans to do differently with friends, but also plan on getting our nails done.  I will post more next week.  I am just trying to be as present as I can with my time with her at home.

Happy Friday and weekend to you all!
